Huskies Beat Mansfield in Season Finale

MANSFIELD--The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team closed out its season with a 64-62 win over Mansfield University on Saturday afternoon.

Bloomsburg trailed by a score of 11-4 in the first half when the Huskies went on a 19-3 run to take a nine-point lead, 23-14. Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) scored five points in the rally for Bloomsburg.

In the second half, the Huskies led by as many as 14 points, 59-45, with 2:43 to play, when Mansfield staged a comeback. The Mountaineers closed to within two points, 60-58, with 34 seconds to play on a three-pointer by Brittany Reed. But, the Huskies hit 4-6 from the free throw line in the closing seconds, including two by Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) with nine seconds to play, to seal the win.

Lauren Healy scored 19 points, while Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) added 16 points and 14 rebounds with Monica Dennison (Zion Grove/Hazleton) adding 10 points for Bloomsburg which finished 8-19.

Mansfield, which finished 6-21, got 15 points from Alicia Espigh.
